Black Hawk State Historic Site welcomes you to the following programs for 2007 presented by Citizens to Preserve Black Hawk Park Foundation.

Learn about Rain Gardens, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 11, Watch Tower Lodge

Melody Miller, Rain Garden Program Administrator and Andrea Johnson, City Stormwater Engineer from Rock Island Public Works will conduct a power point presentation about the advantages of rain gardens. FREE (309-788-9536)

“Stroll through Springtime,” 7 a.m. to noon Sat., May 3, Watch Tower Lodge

7-9 a.m. trail walks to identify both migrating and resident birds (binoculars suggested), 9 a.m. refreshments,including wild violet jelly, and program on tall grass prairie, and 10-12 trail walks to identify wildflower. FREE (309) 788-9536

Weekly invasive species removal days. Saturdays in March 9:00a.m to Noon, Singing Bird Lodge. Help park staff and volunteers remove invasive Euonymous and garlic mustard from the park. Dress warmly, bring gloves, handy tools include pruning shears and a pocket knife. Call Curtis for more information 309-738-4208.

Watch Tower Lodge is located on the south side of Black Hawk Rd, IL Rte 5, on the south side of the Historic Site in Rock Island.

Singing Bird Nature Center is located off IL Rte 5 at the end of 15th St. on the west side of the Historic Site.
